DJ Spin Doctor

Spin Doctor has been buying records for as long as he can remember and soon enough was getting hassled to bring tunes to his mates parties, in fact he still is. Difference is that now, having bought decks in 1994, he knows how to play them.

While he listens to any style of music when it comes to choosing tunes to play out there is one simple rule "That shit gots to be funky". While best known for his party hip-hop sets Spin Doctor is equally skilled playing funk, reggae, and has even been known to toy with a little disco and house on occasions "They have to be very special occasions though" he points out.

"As long as something has a fat beat and a groovy bass line it can work for me, I don't care what genre people want to bracket it under. Good Music is Good Music and that is what I like to play."

This sound philosophy was developed in the early days with his Sativa Sound System and still applies now not only while with SoulBrew but at his other residencies at The Elbow Room, and the nights he plays with The Funkin' Pussy sound squad. "I like nothing more to make people have a good time! If they are having fun then I'm having fun and everyone's a winner."

Starsign: Cancer, Birthday in July which I always like to celebrate in style!
1st Record: As a young kid I'm ashaned to admit I was into Shakin' Stevens so probably "Green Door". The first record to really change my life was " Licence To Ill" by the Beastie Boys.
Favourite Gig: SoulBrew NYE was provbaly the most fun I have ever had with my cloathes on, I do love swimming ya see...
Styles: Anything & everything I consider part & parcel of Hip-Hop, soul, funk, reggae, dancehall, rock etc etc etc
Inspirations: Arsenal, Collecting &People
Tipple: Rum & Coke in the clubs or a pint of Guiness with a shot of Rum in it for winter.
Hangover cure: Don't stop partying!!!!! Life is too short!!!!!
