About SoulBrew
Set up in 2001 by Djs Andy Bird & Spin Doctor and inspired by nights such as Dingwalls, The Loft, Southport Weekender, Soul2Soul and Funkin Pussy; SoulBrew's undeniably London vibe continues London's rich history of multi musical and multi cultural partying to the finest soulful sounds from across the spectrum. <p>
"Soulful music, top venues, London's finest and funkiest crowd, and a dedication to putting on simply great parties - that's SoulBrew!!"
Whilst booking some of their favourite DJs from around the world from Cash Money to Kerri Chandler has undoubtedly helped, it is the residents and founders Andy Bird & DJ Spin Doctor and their merry band of SoulBrew regulars who make this party what it has grown into over 5 years.
Whether playing house or hip hop or all points in between these two SoulBrew All Stars know how to rock a party bringing London's notoriously genre driven tribes into one happy family with a mish mash of funk soul hip hop boogie reggae disco and house that keeps them coming back time and time again.
Whilst SoulBrew's star has risen offshoots to the SoulBrew brand 'Doctor's Orders' and 'Body Music' have allowed the two to push their love of Hip Hop and House with guests ranging from DJ Spinna to De La Soul, garnering considerable critical and press acclaim, it's the SoulBrew parties that are always a highlight of their clubbing calendar.
With a great and loyal crowd of party people, 2007 has already seen their most ambitious party to date, with over 900 people getting down at their Easter party with Special Guest DJs Danny Krivit, Jazzie B, and DJ Vadim alongside SoulBrew favourites Mr Thing, Yam Who and Ian Dewhirst at London's Electrowerkz.

SD: "We met and
were DJing together at all these parties and while we were both playing
different tunes we really liked each others style."
AB: "I have always been into my
boogie & soulful house while Spin was more on that dirty Funk
& Hip-Hop tip. It always seemed to work really well when we played
together as we were covering all the bases & making sure there
literally was something for everyone without compromising our thang" |
SD: "And now we have been playing together
for a while we are more in tune to what each other is playing & where
we can go with it. I've been playing way more Disco then I would ever
have previously & even been seen dancing to house every now &
again, but keep that on the DL!"
AB: "It was clear we both knew what
we were doing when it came to playing records & rocking crowds so
it seemed like the next obvious step to come together & put on some
parties, to be honest I'm surprised it took us so long."
SD: " I had been promoting nights in
London for a little while & Birdhouse had been doing his thing in
Manchester so we decided to share the load and get back to what we really
wanted to be doing. I mean it's good going to these massive clubs &
hearing some supposedly superstar DJ but we wanted to get back to the
basics of going out.
AB: "its definitely all about getting
a spick and span venue, actually putting some effort in to the sound,
the décor, and gettin the whole vibe right. It’s not (just!)
about making the mone, its about doing something special and something
different and putting on great parties, with great music, for great crowds
in this great city of London!"
Since the first boat party in the summer of 2001
things have been on the up & up! The boat parties are now a thing
of legend & packed each & every time. & the SoulBrew crew
have been treated to a variety of great parties onland too.
AB: "The boat
parties are great, it is simple as that! They have become the essence
of what SoulBrew is all about."
SD: "Once
you are on that boat you have to be mad not to have a great time. I think
of the people on board as party prisoners. There is nowhere for them to
go so it is up to us to make sure they have a night to remember!!"
AB: "I
think we are working to a 100% hit rate in that everyone that has been
to one boat party has made sure they have made it to another…. It’s
just spreading the word, and getting bigger and better, yet keeping that
special SoulBrew family atmosphere."
SD: " It
is this same atmosphere that we try and create at all our parties whether
they be our monthly at the Key Club or one of our one off jams. All the
people who come down are there because they are into what we are doing,
that and to get jiggy with the gorgeous SoulBrew boys & girls. You
can't ask for a better crowd than that."
